Tématem disertační práce jsou předčasné odchody z maturitních oborů českých středních škol, které představují významný problém s důsledky pro životní dráhy žáků i pro společnost. Cílem práce je pochopit, jak žáci, kteří předčasně ukončili maturitní studium, reflektují svůj odchod, jaké významy této události přikládají a jakými faktory je tento proces ovlivněn. Práce využívá interpretativní fenomenologickou analýzu (IPA), která umožňuje porozumět subjektivním zkušenostem respondentů, a analýzu typologií předčasných odchodů. Data byla sbírána prostřednictvím hloubkových rozhovorů s osmi respondenty. Výsledky ukazují, že předčasné odchody mají procesuální povahu a jsou ovlivňovány osobními, rodinnými, školními i systémovými faktory. Z nich žáci často zmiňují konflikty s učiteli, negativní klima ve škole a obtíže v rodinných vztazích. Dalšími klíčovými tématy jsou absence, užívání návykových látek a pochybnosti o hodnotě maturitního vzdělání. Významnou roli ve zkušenostech žáků středních odborných škol zaujímá pocit nespravedlnosti vzdělávacího systému při přípravě na maturitní zkoušku. Srovnáním studijních drah respondentů se syntetizovanou typologií zahraničních výzkumů byly identifikovány čtyři typy předčasných odchodů: Neúspěšní, znevýhodnění, odpojení a nepřizpůsobiví. The topic of the dissertation is early school leavings from Czech upper secondary schools, which represents a significant problem with consequences for the students' career paths and for society. The aim of the thesis is to gain insight into how students who dropped out of upper secondary education reflect on this step, what significance they give to this decision and what factors affected the process. The thesis uses Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to gain insight into the respondents' subjective experience and also analysis of typologies of dropouts. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with eight respondents. The results show that early school leaving is processual in nature and is influenced by personal, family, school and system factors. Respondents repeatedly mentioned conflicts with teachers, negative school climate and difficult family relationships. Other key themes were absenteeism, substance abuse and doubts about the value of upper secondary education. A factor that plays an important role in the experience of upper secondary technical/vocational school students is the perceived unfairness of the system of education in preparation for the maturita (A-level) exam.
