Město Strakonice je nejpozději od počátku 19. století těsně spojeno s dudami a dudáckou muzikou. Téma dudáků využilo již české národní hnutí 19. století a po druhé světové válce ožilo v prostředí folklorního hnutí. Od 1967 je pořádán Mezinárodní dudácký festival ve Strakonicích. Proměny vztahu k dudácké tradici se odrážejí v politickém, společenském a kulturním životě města a regionu. The town of Strakonice has been closely associated with bagpipes and bagpipe music since the beginning of the 19th century at the latest. The theme of bagpipers was already used by the Czech national movement of the 19th century and revived in the folklore movement after the Second World War. Since 1967, the International Bagpipe Festival has been held in Strakonice. The changes in the relationship to the bagpipe tradition are reflected in the political, social and cultural life of the town and the region.
