Předkládaná diplomová práce se pokouší o zmapování proměny artušovského mýtu ve vybraných dílech fantasy literatury. Pro analýzu byla zvolena trilogie o kouzelníku Merlinovi od Mary Stewartové, dále román Mlhy Avalonu od Marion Zimmer Bradleyové a na závěr novela Kazua Ishigura, Pohřbený obr. Práce se snaží vysledovat, jakými směry se artušovské příběhy nyní ubírají. Vzhledem k tomu, že mnozí považují artušovský cyklus za odnož fantasy literatury, práce navíc poskytuje krátký přehled toho, co je vlastně pojmem fantasy literatura míněno. This diploma thesis attempts to map the transformation of the Arthurian myth in selected works of fantasy literature. The trilogy of Merlin the magician by Mary Stewart, followed by the novel The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, and finally Kazuo Ishiguro's novella, The Buried Giant, have been chosen for analysis. The thesis seeks to trace the directions that Arthurian stories are now taking. In addition, since many consider the Arthurian cycle to be an offshoot of fantasy literature, the thesis provides a brief overview of what is meant by the term fantasy literature.
