The goal of this thesis is to present a comparative study of Christopher Marlowe's The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus and the source on which it was based. This thesis will focus on both the comparison of fundamental, easily noticeable differences as well as the comparison of the main characters and other crucial elements of the narrative. It will also look at the basic history of the development of the Faustian legend, during which it will assess how specific phases enriched the emerging narrative. Cílem této bakalářské práce je vytvořit komparativní studii díla Christophera Marlowa The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus a zdroje, z něhož vycházel. Tato práce se zabývá nejen porovnáním základních, okem viditelných rozdílů, nýbrž také srovnáním hlavních postav a jiných klíčových prvků narativu. Dále bude nahlédnuto i do základů historie vývoje faustovské legendy, během jejichž sledování bude zhodnoceno, jak konkrétní fáze obohatily vznikající narativ.
