Cílem diplomové práce je podrobná analýza románů Thirteen Reasons Why od Jaye Ashera a Wintergirls od Laurie Halse Andersonové. Obě knihy jsou zaměřeny na psychologický význam a terapeutickou roli Young Adult fikce. Teoretická část práce propojí problematiku literatury pro dospívající a psychologii s ohledem na roli psychoterapie, která souvisí s řešením problematiky duševních poruch, jako jsou poruchy příjmu potravy, úzkosti a deprese, prostřednictvím různých příběhů a jejich protagonistů. Součástí práce je vyhodnocení otázky, zda jsou příběhy s tématikou duševních poruch/vývojových zvláštností psané za účelem prevence (pro psychicky vyrovnané čtenáře) nebo motivace (pro psychicky nevyrovnané čtenáře). Praktická část práce kromě analýzy a porovnání děl zahrnuje také dotazníkový výzkum, který se zabývá zkušenostmi dospívajících s Young Adult literaturou zaměřenou na témata duševních problémů. Tento online dotazník je určen dívkám/ženám a zpracován pomocí grafů. The aim of the thesis is a detailed analysis of the novels Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher and Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson. Both books focus on the psychological significance and therapeutic role of Young Adult fiction. The theoretical part of the thesis will connect the issues of adolescent literature and psychology, with an emphasis on the role of psychotherapy in addressing mental health disorders such as eating disorders, anxiety, and depression, through various stories and their protagonists. The thesis also evaluates the idea of whether stories dealing with mental health issues/developmental peculiarities are written with the purpose of prevention (for mentally stable individuals) or motivation (for those struggling with mental health issues). The practical part of the thesis, in addition to analysing and comparing the works, includes a questionnaire survey focusing on adolescents' experience with Young Adult literature that addresses mental health issues. This online questionnaire is targeted at girls/women and is processed using graphs.
