Legal regulation of supervision in the insurance industry in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic Abstract Within my thesis, I focused on the legal regulation of supervision within the insurance industry in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. The aim of the thesis was to introduce the establishment of insurance supervision, to find similarities or differences between insurance supervision in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic and to describe the legal regulations (whether adopted at the national or European level) that regulate the supervision of the insurance industry and the insurance industry as such. For this reason, the work is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, I focus on the historical view of the development of the insurance industry, explain why there was a need for insurance in Slovakia and the Czech Republic and how the insurance industry changed over the years. In the second chapter, I deal with the sources of insurance law, i.e. the legal norms governing the issue of the insurance industry. In this chapter, I discuss both national (Czech and Slovak) sources of law and European sources of law, which are applied (whether directly or indirectly) in both countries with the entry of Slovakia and the Czech Republic into the European Union. Právní úprava dohledu v pojišťovnictví v České republice a ve Slovenské republice Abstrakt V rámci rigorózní práce jsem se věnoval právní úpravě dohledu v pojišťovnictví v České republice a ve Slovenské republice. Cílem práce bylo přiblížit problematiku dohledu nad pojišťovnictvím, najít podobnosti či rozdíly mezi dohledem nad pojišťovnictvím v České republice a Slovenské republice a přiblížit právní předpisy (ať už přijaté na národní nebo evropské úrovni), které regulují dohled nad pojišťovnictví a pojišťovnictví jako takové. Z tohoto důvodu je práce rozdělena do pěti kapitol. V první kapitole se věnuji historickému pohledu na vývoj pojišťovnictví, přibližuji, proč vůbec vznikla potřeba pojištění na Slovensku a v Čechách a jak se pojišťovnictví měnilo v průběhu let. Ve druhé kapitole se věnuji pramenům pojistného práva, tedy právním normám upravujícím problematiku pojišťovnictví. V této kapitole rozebírám jak vnitrostátní (české a slovenské) prameny práva, tak evropské prameny práva, které se se vstupem Slovenska a České republiky do Evropské unie uplatňují (ať už přímo nebo nepřímo) v obou zemích. V této kapitole jsem nezapomněl ani historický pohled na prameny pojistného práva.
