Tato práce poskytuje čtenáři přehled literatury zahrnujíc základy biologie a etologie medvěda hnědého, jeho rozšíření na Slovensku s přiblížením území Poľany, základy monitoringu a sčítání populace a interakce medvěda s člověkem. Obsahuje údaje o vývoji četnosti medvědí zvěře v minulosti, regulaci četnosti a invazivní a neinvazivní metody sčítání a monitoringu. Navíc podává informace ohledně problematiky medvěda hnědého z hlediska jeho synantropních chování, zemědělství a nebezpečných setkání s člověkem ve světě a na Slovensku. Součástí práce je i vyhodnocení sledování chování medvěda v oblasti Poľany, dále jejich stavu početnosti za rok 2019, škod způsobovaných medvědem hnědým za roky 2016 - 2019, a také útoků či střetů medvěda s člověkem v sledovaném území Poľany a v jejím přilehlých oblastech. This thesis provides to reader an overview of the literature, including basics of biology and ethology of a brown bear, its expansion in Slovakia with an approach to the territory of Poľana, the basics of monitoring and counting the brown bear population and the interaction of bears with humans. It contains population growth and decrease on the frequency of the bear in the past, regulation of the frequency, and invasive and non-invasive method of counting and monitoring. Additionally, it provides information on the issue of the brown bear in terms of its synanthropic behavior, agriculture and dangerous encounters with humans in the world and in Slovakia. Part of the work is also the evaluation of monitoring the behavior of bears in the area of Poľana, their population numbers for 2019, damage caused by brown bears in 2016 - 2019, as well as attacks or encounters of bears with humans in the monitored area of Poľana and adjacent areas.
