Od druhé poloviny roku 2008 se Česká i Slovenská republika musela potýkat s dopady hospodářské krize a zavedení eura na Slovensku v roce 2009 přináší jedinečnou možnost srovnání, zda v tomto krizovém období výhody členství v eurozóně převýšily výhody existence národní měny, či nikoli. Předkládaná práce využívá možnosti tohoto srovnání na příkladu strojírenského sektoru. Sektoru, jenž má na obě ekonomiky významný vliv. Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je identifikovat dopad zavedení eura na Slovensku v sektoru strojírenství a provést komparaci s ČR. Empirická část identifikuje v časové řadě tržeb slovenských strojírenských podniků strukturální zlom a následně porovnává vývoj těchto tržeb s vývojem tržeb podniků působících v českém strojírenství. Pomocí poměrových ukazatelů poté provádí na vybraném vzorku českých i slovenských firem částečnou finanční analýzu. Ačkoli nelze zobecňovat, že by byla za každých okolností společná měna v krizovém období výhodou, výsledky ukazují, že v případě slovenských strojírenských podniků alespoň minimálně k pozitivnímu vývoji přispěla. Since 2008 the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic have been faced impacts of the Economic crisis and the euro introduction in Slovakia provides a possibility to compare advantages and disadvantages of the Eurozone membership with the advantages and disadvantages of the National currency during the crisis. The presented work compares the development of the engineering sectors, which have a significant impact on both economies. The main aim of this Bachelor thesis is to identify the impact of euro adoption on the Slovak mechanical engineering and to compare with the Czech Republic. The empirical part identifies the structural break in the time series of sales of the Slovak engineering companies and compares them with the Czech. Then the thesis performs a partial financial analysis using the financial ratios. Although it is not possible to generalise and claim that the common currency is always an advantage during the economic recession, the results show that the euro contributed to the positive developments of the Slovak engineering industry.
