Lidské papilomaviry (HPV) jsou společně s viry Epstein-Barrové (EBV) v populaci hojně rozšířené DNA viry podílející se na vzniku a vývoji nádorových onemocnění. Každoročně jsou jen tyto dvě skupiny virů zodpovědné za více jak 600 000 případů nádorů v různých anatomických lokalizacích. Karcinogeneze ale není součástí jejich klasického životního cyklu. Infekce vysoko-rizikovými HPV jsou asociovány zejména s nádory hlavy a krku a nádory anogenitální oblasti. Infekce EBV jsou asociovány s řadou akutních, chronických i nádorových onemocnění, přičemž z nádorových onemocnění jsou nejvýznamnější Burkittovy lymfomy (BL), Hodgkinovy lymfomy (HL) a nasofaryngeální karcinomy (NPC). Mimo to se v posledních letech objevují hypotézy, že by se infekce EBV mohla podílet také na vzniku nádorů děložního čípku u žen a HPV infekce by mohla mít roli ve vzniku NPC. Cílem této práce bylo charakterizovat výše uvedené dvě skupiny DNA virů a sepsat dostupné informace o potencionální roli těchto virů v nasofaryngeálních a cervikálních karcinomech. Klíčová slova: lidský papilomavirus, virus Epstein-Barrové, nasofaryngeální karcinom, karcinom děložního čípku Human papillomaviruses (HPV) and Epstein-Barr viruses (EBV) are common DNA viruses that contribute to the development and progression of tumours. These two groups of viruses are associated with more than 600,000 cases of newly diagnosed tumours of different anatomical locations annually. However, carcinogenesis is not a part of their normal productive life cycle. High risk HPV infections are mainly associated with head and neck tumours and anogenital cancers. EBV infections are associated with a range of acute or chronic diseases and tumours, with Burkitt's lymfomas (BL), Hodgkin's lymphomas (HL) and nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPC) being the most prominent. In recent years, it has been hypothesized that EBV infections may be involved in the development of cervical cancer in woman and that HPV infections may play a role in the development of NPC. The aim of this thesis is to characterize above mentioned groups of DNA viruses and to summarize currently available information about the potential role of these viruses in nasopharyngeal and cervical carcinomas.
