Abstract: Green infrastructure is one of the most important and most addressed types of infrastructure in the last decade, also in relation to addressing the climate crisis and the related stormwater management and drought impacts. However, cities in Europe approach the application of green infrastructure elements or the application of the whole water management system very differently, which is also due to the very structure of urban development. The aim of this paper is to present the principles of green infrastructure solutions on the examples of several European cities and in the context of the Czech Republic and to specify where implementation is insufficient or what are the specific problems why implementation is not successful.
