Díky velkému pokroku ve vědě, medicíně a poznání člověk dosáhl v léčení vysoké úrovně. Nicméně, i v dnešní době se lidstvo snaží o návrat ke svým kořenům – přírodě a využít ji pro udržení svého pevného zdraví. Pojmem probiotika se myslí živé mikroorganismy, které jsou schopny usídlit se v lidském střevě a mít zde kladný vliv na udržení zdravé střevní mikrofóry, což se dále promítne pozitivními účinky na lidské zdraví obecně. Firma Valosun a.s. poskytla pro testování probiotický potravní doplněk pro děti, který byl vyzkoušen matkami s dětmi předškolního věku a těhotnými. Cílem našeho sociologického průzkumu, bylo zjistit, jaká je informovanost o problematice probiotik v této skupině, dále jak vnímají dotazované dostupnost probiotik a jaké jsou nejčastější důvody pro jejich užívání.
