I explore Prague beggars' decision making about their daily work hours. Begging is posited as supplying a service, in the case of Prague with barriers to entry on the production side, with the Charles Bridge as the extreme monopoly example. Financial analysis of the self-employed beggars' wages, expenses and wage rate determinants offers many insights about the workings of the market. I contrast 2 possible models of labor supply: intertemporal substitution and income targeting, representing respectively the concepts of maximizing and satisficing: Maximizers adjust their day's work-hours to the days' varying wage rate, whereas satisficers bracket decisions narrowly and set daily income targets to be reached. 37 of the 43 Prague beggars sampled are found to be satisficers in much the same way as New York City cabdrivers (Camerer 1997); however, this is often a perfectly rational response to the specific constraints of the beggar's profession (e.g. social tax, lack of savings opportunities), satisficing is thus much more justifiable in their case. Tato práce zkoumá, jak se pražští žebráci rozhodují o své denní pracovní době. Žebrání je představeno jako nabízená služba, v případě Prahy se zábranami ve vstupu na trh na straně produkce, s mimořádným případem Karlova mostu jako monopolu. Náhled do fungování tohoto trhu umožňuje finanční analýza mezd, nákladů a faktorů mzdových sazeb samostatně výdělečně činných žebráků. Jako možná vysvětlení proti sobě stavím 2 modely nabídky práce: model mezičasové substituce a cílování příjmů (income targeting), které odpovídají konceptům maximalizace (maximizing), resp. dostačování (satisficing). Maximizéři přizpůsobují svou denní pracovní dobu mzdové sazbě, která se mezi dny liší, kdežto dostačovači závorkují svá rozhodnutí úzce a stanovují si denní příjem, kterého se snaží dosáhnout. 37 z 43 pražských žebráků v mém výběru se dá označit za dostačovače, podobně jako newyorské taxikáře (Camerer 1997); to je ovšem často zcela racionální reakce na omezení plynoucí z povolání žebráka (např. kvůli "sociálnímu zdanění" a nedostatkům příležitostí ke spoření), dostačování je tedy v jejich případě mnohem pochopitelnější.
