Východiskem i cílem této diplomové práce je analýza románové tvorby Jane Austenové z hlediska rodinných a sociálních souvislostí. Pozornost je věnována zařazení osobnosti a díla této významné představitelky románů označovaných za comedy of manners či románů z domácího prostředí do společensko-historického kontextu s přihlédnutím k osobní zkušenosti. Interpretační část zprostředkuje obraz sebepoznání jednotlivých hlavních hrdinek v autorkou vytvořeném fikčním světě, v němţ se prolíná rodinný a společenský prostor. Ve výsledku práce ozřejmí literární přínos Austenové a proč je autorkou klasickou, ale zároveň její sdělení nacházejí odezvu i u moderních čtenářů, feministickou kritiku nevyjímajíc. The principle and aim of this diploma thesis is an analysis of Jane Austen's novels in terms of family and social connections. Attention is paid to putting the personality and literary production of this reputed author of novels labelled as comedy of manners or domestic novels into a social and historical context with respect to her personal experience. The interpretation, based on literary analysis, focuses on the image of self-awareness of Austen's protagonists in their fictional world where family and social backgrounds blend together. Finally, this paper should evaluate Austen's literary contribution, specifying why she is a classic and at the same time popular with modern readership, including feministic criticism.
