Abstract: Reactions of five passerine predators (Parus major, Parus caeruleus, Erithacus rubecula, Phoenicurus ochruros, Sylvia atricapilla) to artificial Batesian mimic of red firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus) were studied in the laboratory tests. Effect of previous food experience on the protection level of Batesian mimic was tested in the context of birds? prior diet containing/not containing non-conspicuous form of this mimic.
