Veřejné zdraví v Zambii je organizováno podle prioritních oblastí. To se liší od místa k místu podle potřeb lidí ve společnosti a podle okolností jejich zdravotního stavu. Nicméně determinanty zdraví, které řídí tento systém veřejného zdraví, jsou téměř stejné. Zambie je stále ještě rozvojovou zemí a proto je třeba zvýšit účinnost a efektivitu jejího systému veřejného zdraví. Mezi některé faktory, které mohou přispět k posílení tohoto poměrně nestabilního systému se řadí: dobrá a stabilní ekonomika, efektivní zdravotní politika, ochrana a podpora zdraví. Hlavním cílem této práce je analyzovat systém veřejného zdraví v Zambii a upozornit na jeho úspěchy a neúspěchy. Pojal jsem tuto problematiku od doby, kdy byly zdravotní reformy zavedeny v rámci ?Sector Wide Approach? až po decentralizaci systému veřejného zdravotnictví v Zambii. V tomto kvalitativním typu výzkumu jsem se rozhodl použít sekundární analýzu dat. Mnoho informací jsem získal studiem literatury o zdraví, z časopisů, zákonů a dalších zdravotních publikací a zdrojů, které jsem považoval za relevantní pro mé téma. Získané informace jsem rovněž konzultoval se zambijským Ministerstvem zdravotnictví, se Zemským úřadem pro ochranu zdraví a s Okresním zdravotním úřadem. Jako návod k získání potřebných dat byly použity 3 otevřené výzkumné otázky. Výsledky tohoto výzkumu ukazují velkou nerovnost v přístupu k veřejné zdravotní péči mezi městskými a venkovskými oblastmi, bohatými a chudými, gramotnými a negramotnými, mezi chlapci a dívkami nebo muži a ženami. Tato práce může být použita jako návod ke zlepšení systému veřejného zdraví v Zambii a také jako informační zdroj pro další výzkum. Public health in Zambia is organized according to priority areas. It varies from one place to another according to the needs of the people in the community and the circumstance surrounding their health situation. However, the determinants of health that drive this Public health system are almost the same. Zambia is still a developing country and there is much to be done to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its Public health system. Some of these enhancing factors to strengthen this quite unstable Public health system ranges from good and sound economy, efficient health policies, prioritization of the determinants of health and good health promotion. The main aim of this thesis is to analyze the Public health system in Zambia and take note of its successes and failures. I approached this issue from the time the health reforms were introduced under the frame work of the Sector Wide Approach up to the decentralization of the Zambian Public health system. In this qualitative type of research, I chose to use a secondary analyzation of data. I obtained much of my information from studying health literatures, journals, laws and other health publications and sources which I found relevant to this topic. I also consulted with the Zambian Ministry of Health, Provincial Health Offices as well as the District Health Office in relation to the topic at hand. A series of 3 open research questions were also used as a guide to obtaining data. However, the results of this research reveals a gross inequality in accessing Public health care between the urban and rural areas, the rich and the poor, literate and illiterate and finally between boys and girls or men and women. This work can be used a guide to improve the Public health system and also as a road map for further research on the related topic.
