Abstract: The detailed mechanisms of hypercholesterolemia development were studied in Prague hereditary hypercholesterolemic (PHHC) rat {--} an experimental model of dietary cholesterol induced polygenic hypercholesterolemia. The VLDL production rate and aldehyde dehydrogenase 1a7 activity were determined and selected genes (Apoe, Apof) were sequenced in PHHC rats.
