Člověk neustále přichází do styku s druhými lidmi, se kterými na sebe vzájemně působí. Velký význam mají neformální vztahy (přátelství, láska), neboť je pro ně typická spontánnost, nesvázanost komunikace, plasticita rolí atp. Velký vliv na jedince má rodina, do které se narodil a dále ta, kterou zakládá. Manželství je institucionálním základem rodiny, která je východiskem sociálních vztahů. Pro ekonomický, sociální, psychický a zdravotní stav jedinců a rodin je určující práce. Nezaměstnanost má vliv na rodinu, životní úroveň jedince, strukturaci a vnímání času, psychické a fyzické zdraví. Součástí všech sociálních vztahů je komunikace. Komunikace dokáže vztah nejen vyjádřit, ale i ho měnit a ovlivňovat. Proto je důležité dodržovat zásady dobré komunikace, jejichž nedílnou součástí je naslouchání. Mezi faktory, které ovlivňují mezilidské vztahy, se řadí i stres. Pokud je zátěž, kterou stres přináší, přiměřená, tak člověka aktivizuje. Pokud se již nedokážeme se zátěží vyrovnat, působí negativně. Proto je důležité stresu předcházet. Předcházet a odbourávat stres můžeme pomocí tanečně pohybové terapie. Možností, jak procvičit tělo, mysl i duši, je i orientální tanec. Při tělesné aktivitě se projevují nejen pohybové vlastnosti, ale také mezilidské vztahy. Systém činností a vztahů lze definovat jako aktivní životní styl. People meet people all the time, and in thus meeting they influence each other. Major importance can be attributed to informal relationships like friendship and love, since these are typical of spontaneity, free communication, flexibility of roles and similar features. Each individual is greatly affected by the family that he or she was born into as well as the family he or she established. Marriage is an institutional basis of a family, while the family is the hub of social relations. Economic, social, mental and health conditions of individuals and families stem from their work activities. Unemployment affects the family; living standards; the structure and perception of time; and the health of body and mind. All social relationships have communication built in them. Communication can not only describe the relationship as it exists, it can also change and modify it. That is why it is important to stick to sound principles of communication, whose integral part is the ability to listen. Factors impacting on interpersonal relations cover also stress. In case the burden inflicted by stress is tolerable, it may even be invigorating. If the burden, however, is greater than what we can endure, the effect is detrimental. Consequently, stress should be precluded. One method of precluding and alleviating stress rests in what is termed the dance movement therapy. An option available to exercise body, mind and soul is the oriental dance. In pursuing physical activities we exercise not only our moving faculties but also cultivate interpersonal relationships. Such a system of activities and relations can be designated as an active way of life.
