Anotace: Tato diplomová práce se bude zabývat jedním z nejvýznamnějších církevních koncilů ve starověku, který podstatným způsobem ovlivnil další vývoj křesťanství a jehož závěry se kromě jiného staly bezprostřední příčinou prvního velkého schizmatu církve. Jejím výchozím bodem bude existující rozporuplná situace v rámci křesťanské teologie po skončení Efezského koncilu, jehož průběhem a výsledky jsem se podrobně zabývala ve své bakalářské práci s názvem Křesťanství a církev v 5. století po Kristu z pohledu Efezského koncilu. V této souvislosti práce zhodnotí příčiny a okolnosti svolání Chalcedonského koncilu, zmapuje jeho průběh a podrobí analýze konkrétní závěry, k nimž tento v mnoha směrech přelomový církevní sněm dospěl. Vzhledem ke skutečnosti, že christologické otázky se staly jedním z ústředních témat jednání tohoto v pořadí IV. ekumenického sněmu, bude pozornost věnována také tomuto odvětví křesťanské teologie a postavení, které v jeho dějinách Chalcedonský koncil zaujímá. This diploma thesis will deal with one of the most important church councils in antiquity, which significantly influenced the further development of Christianity and whose conclusions became, among other things, the immediate cause of the First Great Schism of the church. Its starting point will be the existing contradictory situation in Christian theology after the Council of Ephesus, the course and results of which I discussed in detail in my bachelor's thesis entitled Christianity and the Church in the 5th century AD from the perspective of the Council of Ephesus. In this context, the work evaluates the causes and circumstances of the convening of the Council of Chalcedon, maps its course and analyzes the specific conclusions that this, in many ways groundbreaking, church council has reached. Due to the fact that Christological issues have become one of the central themes of this 4th Ecumenical Council, attention will also be paid to this branch of Christian theology and the position which the Council of Chalcedon occupies in its history.
