High entropy alloys constitute a novel approach in materials research. In this thesis, four novel alloys (namely NbTaTiZr, HfNbTaTiZr, HfNbTiVZr and HfNbTaTiVZr) are investigated. Their microstructure and mechanical properties are studied both in the as-cast and the annealed state. It is shown that their strengthening is caused by lattice distortions, which are the result of random filling of lattice sites by atoms of various elements with different atomic radii. Furthermore, positron annihilation investigations revealed that positrons actively search for open volumes in interstitial regions associated with lattice distortions, and therefore lattice distortions can be characterised by positron lifetimes. Slitiny s vysokou entropií představují nový směr v materiálovém výzkumu. V této práci byly zkoumány čtyři nové slitiny (konkrétně NbTaTiZr, HfNbTaTiZr, HfNbTiVZr and HfNbTaTiVZr). Jejich mikrostruktura a mechanické vlastnosti byly studovány jak ve stavu po odlití, tak ve stavu po vyžíhání. Je ukázáno, že jejich zpevnění je způsobeno pokřivením tvaru jejich krystalové struktury, což je výsledkem náhodného obsazení pozic atomy různých prvků s různými atomovými poloměry. Navíc výzkum za pomoci pozitronové anihilace ukázal, že pozitrony aktivně vyhledávají otevřené objemy v intersticiálních oblastech přidružených ke křivostem v krystalové struktuře, a tím pádem pokřivení krystalové struktury může být popsáno pozitronovými dobami života.
