Moje bakalářská práce se zabývá tím, jak senioři hodnotí pojem {\clqq}důstojnost``. Ve svém výzkumu jsem se zaměřila na seniory, žijící v domovech pro seniory. Cílem mé práce bylo zmapovat současnou problematiku hodnocení výše uvedeného pojmu ze strany skupiny seniorů, kteří žijí v Domově pro seniory Hvízdal a v Domově pro seniory Máj v Českých Budějovicích. V teoretické části jsou zmíněny základní pojmy týkající se stáří, tedy například pohled na stáří biologický a sociální, psychologický i duchovní, je zde uvedeno, jak by měla vypadat příprava na stáří, co znamená pojem ageismus, jaký je vztah mezi seniorem a rodinou a také seniorem a společností. Další část teorie se věnuje sociální péči o seniory, především tedy domovům pro seniory a to jak všeobecně, tak konkrétně Domovu pro seniory Hvízdal a Domovu pro seniory Máj. V poslední části teorie najdeme vymezení pojmu lidská důstojnost a dokumenty vztahující se k ochraně lidské důstojnosti. Praktická část je realizována na podkladě dvou hypotéz. Stanoveny byly dvě pracovní hypotézy, z nichž obě byly testovány pomocí řízeného dotazníku ve výše uvedených ústavních zařízení sociální péče. Nebylo potvrzeno, že senioři žijící v Domovech pro seniory, hodnotí přístup ze strany ošetřujícího personálu k jejich osobě za nedůstojný. Druhá hypotéza, že většina seniorů neví, co konkrétního pojem {\clqq}důstojnost`` zahrnuje, se také nepotvrdila. Účelově je tento výzkum podkladem pro mou bakalářskou práci a zároveň bude sloužit i interním účelům Domova pro seniory Hvízdal a Domova pro seniory Máj. My baccalaureate work deals with the interpretation and understanding of the concept of ``dignity{\crqq} by senior citizens. My research is focussed on the elderly living in homes for the aged. The objective of my work consists in monitoring the current evaluation of the above mentioned concept by senior citizens living in the Seniors Home Hvízdal and in the Seniors Home Máj, both based in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. The theoretical section of my work deals with the basic concepts related to old age, i. g. the biological and social, the psychological and spiritual aspects of old age. The issues of retirement planning, the concept of ageism, the relationship between a senior citizen and his or her family as well as between a senior citizen and society are discussed here. The theoretical section is also concerned with social care for the elderly, namely with homes for the aged, both in the general perspective and as related to the two aforementioned Homes for Senior Citizens Hvízdal and Máj. The last theoretical section includes the determination of the concept of human dignity and official documents related to human dignity protection. The practical section of my work is based on two hypotheses. Two working hypotheses have been outlined, both of which have been tested under the use of controlled questionnaires in both social care institutions. It has not been proved that the elderly living in these homes for senior citizens would evaluate the treatment of the staff as being in conflict with the clients´ dignity. The second hypothesis that most seniors do not know what the concept of ``dignity{\crqq} includes and represents has not been proved either. The research as outlined in the Abstract has served both for the purposes of my baccalaureate work and for the internal purposes and needs of the Seniors Home Hvízdal and the Seniors Home Máj.
