Abstract: Clonality is a very common type of reproduction in aquatic plants. Microsatellite markers are suitable for the identification of individuals, and also for population genetics. Since microsatellite loci for European Ranunculus sect. Batrachium are not known, this work has focused on identifying and optimizing ones. PCR and fragment analysis were performed on different Ranunculus species and putative microsatellite loci to test their amplification and variability.
