Abstract: I tested if alternative dummies evoke the same reaction as the stuffed dummies, which are used most often in similar experiments, and if the intensity of nest defense of the Red-backed Shrike (Lanius collurio) depends on veracity of the used dummy. I used three different dummies of Jay (Garrulus glandarius) in my experiment: the stuffed dummy (the most realist model), the plushy dummy (its surface is similar to feathers) and the dummy from silicon (its surface is smooth and glossy).
