Diplomová práce se zabývá politickým vzestupem Sebastiana Kurze a jeho vlivem na Rakouskou lidovou stranu, v jejímž čele stanul v květnu roku 2017. Cílem práce je zejména zanalyzovat faktory, které vedly ke Kurzovu strmému kariérnímu růstu a následným volebním úspěchům lidovců. Úvodní kapitola se bude věnovat politickému vývoji současného předsedy ÖVP, přiblíženy zde budou jeho počiny ve funkci státního tajemníka pro integraci a spolkového ministra zahraničí. Následná změna na předsednickém postu ÖVP způsobila bezprecedentní změnu voličských preferencí, z níž lidovci profitovali vítězstvími ve volbách do Národní rady v letech 2017 a 2019. Zmíněné parlamentní volby budou podrobeny analýze s ohledem na volební kampaň ÖVP a úlohu jejího volebního lídra. V závěrečné části se zaměřím na oba následné vládní kabinety pod Kurzovým vedením a na otázku, do jaké míry se strana identifikuje se svým předsedou či jak se koaliční spolupráce lidovců se dvěma ideologicky odlišnými subjekty podepsala na profilaci ÖVP. The diploma thesis deals with the political rise of Sebastian Kurz and his influence on the Austrian People's Party, which he took over as a leader in May 2017. The primary aim of the thesis is to analyse the factors that led to Kurz's steep career growth and to subsequent electoral success. The first part will focus on the political development of the current leader of the ÖVP and will describe his actions as Secretary of State for Integration and Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs. The subsequent change in the presidency of the ÖVP caused an unprecedented change in voter preferences, from which the People's Party benefited with victories in the 2017 and 2019 National Council elections. The mentioned parliamentary elections will be analysed in the light of the ÖVP election campaign and the role of its leader. In the final part, I will focus on the two subsequent cabinets under the Kurz's leadership and the question of the extent to which the party identifies with its leader or how both coalition governments of the People's Party with two ideologically different parties influenced the ÖVP profile.
