Abstract: The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effect of tick-borne encephalitis virus on primary macrophages and dendritic cells. The primary cells were derived from murine bone marrow (mice strain C57Bl/6N). Tick-borne encephalitis infection was performed by using two European subtypes, namely Hypr and Neudörfl. Viability of macrophages and dendritic cells was determined using the Alamar BlueTM assay. Relative quantification of viral RNA was done by qRT-PCR and calculated using Ct method. Virions released into media were measured using plaque titration assay.
