Případová studie pojednává o jedinci, kterému byl diagnostikován syndrom Smithové - Magenisové. V první části se čtenář seznámí nejen s diagnostikou a symptomy tohoto syndromu, ale také s problematikou mentální retardace, která se syndromem Smithové - Magenisové úzce souvisí. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na konkrétního jedince se syndromem Smithové - Magenisové, na popis jeho vývoje od narození až po současný věk. Informace byly získávány pomocí hloubkového polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s matkou dítěte, zúčastněném a nezúčastněném pozorování na základní škole praktické, do které jedinec pravidelně dochází. Získaná data jsou podpořena zprávami z vyšetření, kterým se jedinec v průběhu života podrobil, jejich zveřejnění je v souladu se souhlasem matky dítěte. Cílem této práce je, pomocí konkrétního jedince, podrobně popsat život člověka/dítěte se syndromem Smithové - Magenisové, seznámit čtenáře s touto problematikou a představit veřejnosti syndrom Smithové - Magenisové na příkladu konkrétního jedince. Význam své práce vidím především v pomoci dalším rodičům, kterým se narodilo dítě s tímto syndromem, a kteří na základě přečtení následujícího textu, mohou získat určité informace, které jim pomohou s výchovou jejich potomka. This case study debates an individual, who has been diagnosed with Smith - Magenis syndrome. In the first part the reader is introduced not only the diagnostics and symptoms of the syndrome, but also to the problematic of mental retardation, which is in a close corelation with Smith - Magenis syndrome. The practical part of the work is focused on a specific individual afflicted with the Smith - Magenis syndrome, on the description of his development from birth to present day. The information for this project were gathered using an in-depth semi-structured interview with the child´s mother and a participant and non participant observation conducted at the practical elementary school the child attends. The gathered data is backed up by the results of treatment that the individual has been subject to over the course of his life. The data has been published with consent from the child´s mother. The goal of this work to describe the Smith-Magenis syndrome, following the life of a child afflicted with the disease, to teach the readers about the topic and so further present the Smit-Magenis syndrome to the winder public, using the example of a specific individual. The key value of this work I see in the help it can provide to other parents, whose child has been born with this syndrome, by providing them with useful information, they can gather from reading the following text.
