Cílem této práce je srovnávací analýza vybraných děl představitelek současné anglické dětské literatury, se zaměřením na motiv kočky jako hlavní postavy dětských příběhů. Teoretická část práce stručně pojednává o vývoji dětské literatury, v níž se objevuje zvířecí hrdina. Dále přibližuje život a osobnost autorek. Praktická část práce je rozdělena do tří podkapitol, podle jednotlivých autorek a obsahuje vlastní analýzu vybraných děl i posouzení funkce motivu kočky v jednotlivých příbězích. The aim of this work is a comparative analysis of selected works of contemporary English children's literature, focusing on the motif of a cat as the main character in children's stories. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly discusses the development of children's literature in which the animal hero appears. It also introduces the life and personality of the authors. The practical part of the work is divided into three chapters, according to the individual authors, and it contains the analysis of selected works and the assessment of the function of the cat motif in individual stories.
