Klimatické změny, ovlivňované řadou faktorů, a boj proti nim se stává stále palčivějším tématem nejen vědecké veřejnosti. Výkyvy koncentrací oxidu uhličitého (CO2) v atmosféře byly v historii planety Země často spjaty se změnou klimatu a všemi jeho důsledky, včetně hromadného vymírání druhů. Antropogenní vliv na vývoj koncentrací CO2 s patrným nástupem v postindustriální éře je neoddiskutovatelným faktem, a v končeném důsledku může vést ke zvýšenému výskytu nebo změně intenzity síly extrémního počasí, jiných klimatických jevů, a dokonce k omezení obyvatelnosti v určitých regionech až neobyvatelnosti planety pro lidský druh. Jednou z možností ke snižování emisí CO2 je i zachycování a skladování, eventuálně využití uhlíku. Hlavními cíli této rešerše je shrnutí popsaných, i nově vyvíjených technologických možností v kontextu klimatické krize, vyhodnocení podmínek nutných k širšímu a komerčnímu využití této metody, včetně správně nastaveného politického rámce a financování, a zhodnocení vlivu stále probíhající pandemie COVID-19 a války na Ukrajině. Celosvětově je v provozu nebo ve výstavbě 31 projektů, majoritně využívaných při intenzifikaci těžby ropy. I Česká republika patří k zemím, které se zachycováním a skladováním uhlíku intenzivně zabývají, a přestože ani jeden ze dvou kandidátních projektů... Fight against climate change is influenced by many factors and it is becoming hot topic not only for scientists. Concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) throughout the history of the planet Earth have often been linked to climate change with all consequences, including mass species extinctions. The anthropogenic influence on the development of CO2 levels, with a noticeable onset in the post-industrial era, is an indisputable fact. As a result, it can lead to an increased occurrence or change in the intensity of extreme weather, other climatic phenomena, and even to the limitation of habitability in certain regions or on the planet itself. One of the options for reducing CO2 emissions is the carbon capture and storage or utilization. The main goals of this research is to summarize the described and newly developed technological options in the context of the climate crisis, to evaluate the conditions necessary for the wider and commercial use of this method, including the right political framework and financing, and to evaluate the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Worldwide, there are 31 projects in operation or under construction, mostly used for enhanced oil recovery.
