Diplomová práce se zabývá komerční suburbanizací v zázemí Prahy a jejím vztahem ke konceptu edge city. Základní cíle práce jsou analýza vývoje komerčních aktivit v Praze a okolí, zhodnocení současného stavu komerčních aktivit v oblasti pražského letiště a stanovení možností budoucího rozvoje a komparace oblasti s konceptem edge city. Úvodní kapitoly patří teoretickému zasazení problematiky komerční suburbanizace a edge city. V další části je za pomoci zhodnocení rozvoje nových komerčních aktivit v pražském metropolitním areálu určena lokalita pro komparaci s edge city - Letiště Václava Havla Praha. Formou případové studie jsou analyzovány komerční aktivity v oblasti letiště a jeho zázemí a předpoklady jejich rozvoje. Na jejím základě je lokalita srovnávána s konceptem edge city pomocí kritérií dle Joela Garreau a navazujících konceptů a literatury. Zájmové území není pravé edge city, lze však pozorovat určité podobnosti typické pro jeho počáteční fázi. Díky dlouholetému vývoji edge cities v USA lze upozornit na možné budoucí problémy rozvoje zkoumané lokality jako např. nutnost přestavby tohoto jádra nebo střet s residenční suburbanizací. The topic of the diploma thesis is commercial suburbanization and its relation to concept Edge city. The main objectives of the thesis are an analysis of development of commercial activities in Prague and its hinterland, evaulation of current development of commercial activities on area of Prague airport and prediction of future possibilities of development and comparison of Prague airport with a concept Edge city. First chapters deal with theoretical questions of the suburbanization and Edge city. Next chapter defines the locality of interest - Václav Havel Airport Prague. The tool used for this is development analysis of commercial activities of Prague metropolitan area. In the case study there are analyzed commercial activities at Prague airport and its hinterland and the premises for the future development. Based on this study the locality is compared with concept Edge city. For this purpose are used criteria according Joel Garreau and following concepts and sources. Although the chosen locality is not real Edge city, it is possible to find some similarities typical for its initial phase. Long-term development of Edge cities in the USA shows the possible threats and provides with learnings for the chosen locality like for instance rebuilding or conflict with residential suburbanization.
