Bakalářská práce se zabývá významem řeky Jordán. Na řeku se snaží dívat komplexně v pohledu přírodních, společenských a zejména biblických věd. Účelem práce je na základě pěti konkrétních starozákonních příběhů zjistit, jaká je funkce řeky Jordán ve Starém zákoně. Vhled přírodních a společenských věd do tohoto biblického bádání přináší zajímavé souvislosti a vede k zamyšlení, jak starozákonní řeka Jordán souvisí s řekou Jordán, která v Izraeli teče dnes. This bachelor thesis deals with the meaning of Jordan River. It tries to look at it complexly from natural, social and most notably biblical sciences' point of view. The purpose of this thesis is to define the function of the Jordan River in the Old Testament by looking at five specific Old Testament stories. The insight of the natural and social sciences brings interesting connections to the biblical research and leads to reflection about the relationship between the Old Testament Jordan River and the Jordan River that flows in Israel today.
