The presented bachelor thesis deals with the fairy tale book Märchen, die den Kindern helfen by Austrian children psychologist Gerlinde Ortner. The theoretic part of the thesis first describes the function of imagination in children literature and then it deals with contemporary psychological fairy tale in the context of fairy tale genre in the field of literature theory. Then, it describes the position of contemporary fairy tale on the boundary of pedagogy, psychology, and literature theory. Last but not least, individual chapter is dedicated to psychological fairy tale and its variations in the evolution of the literature for children and young people. The practical part of the thesis is focused primarily on the analysis of fairy tales chosen from the book by Gerlinde Ortner and their use in practice by analysing questionnaires from the survey. In the conclusion, the thesis evaluates whether the book is beneficial for contemporary children. Teoretická část práce popisuje úlohu fantasie v dětské literatuře a poté se zabývá současnou psychologickou pohádkou v kontextu žánru pohádky a to nejprve na poli literární vědy. Dále se zabývá postavením současné pohádky na rozhraní pedagogiky, psychologie i literární vědy a v neposlední řadě je samostatná kapitola věnována psychologické pohádce a jejím obměnám ve vývoji literatury pro děti a mládež. Praktická část práce je zaměřena především na analýzu vybraných pohádek z knížky Gerlinde Ortner a jejich užití v praxi pomocí analýzy dotazníků z výzkumu.
