The introduction of the common currency in part of the European Union was a landmark event. It raised eyebrows, expectations and gloomy forecasts. Optimists saw the currency bringing about efficiencies in variety of different ways and industries. This thesis is preoccupied with financial markets. The thesis of this work is that Euro triggered integration on financial markets in countries that joined the project of common currency. The work is trying to gauge this ongoing financial integration and find a measure that would represent it. After finding this measure it is a goal of this paper to estimate if the ongoing financial integration contributed to higher growth prospects in the economies involved. Tato práce je další kapkou do oceánu literatury analizující vliv společné měny v hospodářskému prostoru Eurozóny. Zkoumá se v ní postupující finanční integrace,která byla zavedením Eura nastartována. Klade si otázku, jak finanční integraci měřit, aplikuje několik postupů. Jako nejvýhodnější postup se v práci objeví použití multivariate GARCH metody, tedy modelování volatility na sobě závisejících procesů (v daném případě indexy akciových trhů). Na závěr práce se objevuje analýza hospodářského růstu s přihlédnutím k předtím získanému měřítku postupující integrace na finančních trzích v Eurozóně (tentokrát již běžnou metodou OLS). Vzhledem k malému vzorku dat (Eurozóna zatím funguje pouze deset let) a nedostatku čtvrtletních dat pro kvalitní zpracování ekonometrického modelu růstu hospodářského výstupu se nepodařilo prokázat hypotézu, že integrace finančních trhů přispěla v daných zemích ke zvýšení hospodářského růstu.
