Tato bakalářská práce se skládá ze dvou částí. První část tvoří překlad vybraných kapitol z díla Tonyho Parkera The Violence of Our Lives: Interviews with Life-Sentence Prisoners in America, která byla vydaná nakladatelstvím HarperCollins v Londýně roku 1996. Druhou část tvoří komentář tohoto překladu podle překlakladatelské analýzy Christiane Nordové. Dle relevance popisuje extratextové a intratextové faktory textu a různé překladatelské problémy, které při překladu nastaly. Komentář se dále zabývá řešením těchto problémů a překladatelskými posuny, ke kterým v průběhu překládání došlo. Dochází k závěru, že se jedná o expresivní text zakotvený ve výchozí kultuře. The bachelor thesis consists of two parts. The first part is a translation of selected chapters from the book written by Tony Parker The Violence of Our Lives: Interviews with Life- Sentence Prisoners in America, which was published in London in 1996 by HarperCollins Publishers. The second part of this thesis is a commentary on the translation based on Christiane Nord's model of translation analysis. The commentary includes a translation analysis; it focuses according to relevance on extratextual and intratextual factors and on various translation problems that occurred in the process. The commentary describes strategies for dealing with the problems as well as the typology of translation shifts that occurs in the target text. It concludes that the text is expressive and embedded in the source culture.
