Zájem studentů o přírodní vědy se stále snižuje i přes to, že znalosti z těchto oborů využíváme v celé řadě odvětví běžného života, jako medicíně, ochraně životního prostředí apod. Samozřejmě tyto obory formují i " jen" kladný vztah k přírodě. Je řada možností, jak zájem studentů zvýšit a tím potenciálně zlepšit jejich motivaci učit se. Kromě např. badatelsky orientované výuky a praktických cvičení obecně je jednou z možností práce s přístroji, které se užívají ve výzkumné praxi. Pokud škola takovým vybavením nedisponuje, nabízí se možnost jej zapůjčit, nebo s ním pracovat přes internet. Možnosti vzdáleného přístupu jsou předmětem zahraničních studií, v českém prostředí tento trend také začíná být patrný. Příkladem toho je putovní fluorescenční mikroskop, který lze zapůjčit na katedře učitelství a didaktiky biologie na Přírodovědecké fakultě Univerzity Karlovy v Praze. Ve své diplomové práci jsem zkoumala vliv přítomnosti a nepřítomnosti tohoto putovního fluorescenčního mikroskopu ve výuce na znalosti žáků. Výzkum jsem prováděla na čtyřech třídách dvou pražských gymnázií a zúčastnili se ho žáci prvních ročníků čtyřletého a třetího ročníku šestiletého typu studia (15 - 17 let). Žáci byli rozděleni do dvou skupin podle způsobu výuky. Jedna skupina měla možnost s mikroskopem pracovat přímo ("S"),... Among students, interest in Science is decreasing, despite the fact that knowledge of Science can be useful in many real life situations, such as medicine, conservation etc. Science education can also simply help to form a positive attitude towards nature. There are many possibilities of increasing students' interest in Science that could increase their motivation to study. Apart from Inquiry Based Education or Prescribed Practical Activities, working with devices used in research practice is one of the possibilities. If a school doesn't own such devices, there is a possibility to borrow them, or to work with them via the Internet. Possibilities of remote access to these devices are subject to research abroad, and this trend is also starting to appear in the Czech Republic. One example of a device that can be borrowed by schools is a fluorescence microscope at the Department of Didactics and Education of Biology, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. In my thesis, I was investigating the influence of the presence or absence of this fluorescence microscope on the knowledge of students. Research was carried out in four different classes at two secondary schools in Prague.
