Škodlivé vlivy v životním prostředí, mezi něž se řadí i ionizující záření, a nezdravý životní styl vedou k rozšíření rakoviny v populaci po celém světě. Predikce pro následující dvě desetiletí odhadují, že dojde k 63% nárůstu nových diagnostikovaných případů rakoviny ročně. Radioterapie je jednou z nejúčinnějších a nejpoužívanějších léčebných metod rakoviny, kterou podstoupí až 50 % diagnostikovaných pacientů. I přes neustálé snahy radioterapii zefektivnit a omezovat její negativní vedlejší účinky, kvalita života vyléčených pacientů je stále snižována následky radioterapie. Radioprotektivní látky se zdají být jedním z klíčů ke zlepšení kvality jejich života. Cílem této práce bylo připravit sérii aromatických látek obsahujících 1-(2- hydroxyethyl)piperazin, které mají potenciálně radioprotektivní účinky a fungují jako inhibitory vnitřní cesty apoptózy, čímž může dojít k ochraně radiosenzitivních zdravých tkání při radioterapii. Harmful substances polluting the environment, including ionizing radiation, and an unhealthy lifestyle are responsible for the increased incidence of cancer. The projected outlook for the next ten to twenty years suggests an increase of 63% in newly diagnosed cases of cancer annually. Radiotherapy is an important component of cancer treatment, given approximately to 50% of all cancer patients. Despite ongoing advances in the methods of radiotherapy, quality of life continues to be lowered as a result of the radiation treatment. Novel strategies towards improvement need to be adapted, such as the use of radioprotective substances. The goal of this thesis is to synthesize novel radioprotective agents based on the 1-(2- hydroxyethyl)piperazine moiety targeting the intrinsic apoptotic pathway, therefore protecting healthy tissue from ionizing radiation.
