V říjnu roku 2019 "otřásl" herním světem incident tzv. Blitzchung controversy, ve kterém byl hongkongský profesionální hráč hry Hearthstone Ng Wai "Blitzchung" Chung penalizován za vyjádření podpory demonstrujícím v Hong Kongu, tohoto jednání se dopustil během živého vysílání v rámci oficiálního turnaje. Chungovi bylo vpodstatě odepřeno právo na svobodu slova. Z hlediska své významnosti se v herním prostředí jedná o unikátní případ jenž poukazuje na potenciální existenci kauzálního vztahu hra → reálný svět. V rámci práce je vztahům mezi herním světem a neherními oblastmi či subjekty (vzdělávání, státní sféra, politika a další) věnována pozornost prostřednictvím vybraných výzkumů a případů na které navazuje případová případová studie samotného incidentu Blitzchung controversy chronologicky popisujicí děj událostí a charakterizující zúčastněné aktéry. Doplňkem k případové studii slouží strukturované rozhovory s vybranými respondenty herního světa. Práce čerpá především z teorií zaměřených na hráče/ky a herní svět a snaží se naleznout odpovědi na otázky spojené s vlivem herního světa, jeho potenciálem jakožto prostředí pro politickou a jiné formy diskuze a relevancí herních komunit v lokálním a globálním diskurzu. In October 2019 the gaming world was "shaken" by the so called Blitzchung controversy, an incident during which a professional player of the videogame Hearthstone Ng Wai "Blitzchung" Chung was penalized after he supported the Hong Kong protestors during a live inteview of an official tournament. Chung was basically denied the basic human right of free speech. Considering the importance of this incident in the context of the gaming world, it is a unique case which showcases the potential existance of the causal relationship of games → real world. This study showcases relationships between the gaming world and other nongaming areas and subjects (education, government, politics and others) which are presented using selected studies and cases which are further expanded by the case study based on the Blitzchung controversy that chronologically describes observed phenomenons and characterizes participating actors. Structured interviews with selected respondents supplement the case study findings. This work mainly draws from theories that target gamers and the gaming world and tries to find answers to questions connected to the influence of the gaming world, it's potential as an environment suitable for political and other discussions and relevancy of gaming communities in the local and global discourse.
