The aim of this bachelor thesis is to indicate the possibilities of application of a cultural theme into teaching French as a foreign language and to use benefits not only for an improvement in the language skills but also to broaden cultural general knowledge. The cultural phenomenon and the main theme of the study is new circus that originated in the 1970s in France by combination of the traditional circus and the street theatre. The first part of the thesis describes the history of the circus. The second part is concerned with contemporary types of the circus art with an emphasis on new circus. After the terminological specification we will pursue the expansion of this art abroad and we will observe the influence on the art in the Czech Republic. The third part focuses on the composition of the methodological sheets serving as the models for teaching French classes with the intention of broadening cultural knowledge and improving the language skills. Keywords: circus, art, pedagogy, French Cieľom bakalárskej práce je poukázať na možnosti uplatnenia kultúrnej témy vo výučbe francúzskeho jazyka a využiť jej benefity nie len v zlepšovaní jazykových zručností, ale aj v rozširovaní všeobecného kultúrneho prehľadu. Kultúrny fenomén, ktorý je ústrednou témou, sa nazýva nový cirkus a vznikol v sedemdesiatych rokoch 20. storočia vo Francúzsku spojením cirkusu s prvkami pouličného divadla. V prvej časti práce si predstavíme historický vývoj cirkusového umenia. V druhej časti sa oboznámime s aktívnymi podobami cirkusu v súčasnosti, pričom najväčší dôraz bude kladený na nový cirkus. Po jeho terminologickom uchopení, sa pozrieme ako sa z Francúzska rozšíril aj do iných krajín sveta a taktiež vplyv nového cirkusu na umenie v Českej republike. Treťou časťou a zároveň hlavným výstupom tejto bakalárskej práce je vypracovanie tzv. metodických listov s témou nového cirkusu, ktoré budú slúžiť ako predloha na výučbu hodín francúzskeho jazyka so zámerom rozšírenia kultúrnych znalostí a jazykových zručností.
