Abstract: The flow structures inside a cylindrical cavity are studied experimentally using time-resolved PIV. The flow is excited using rotating lid controlled by step motor. POD analysis is used as a filter as well as a method to detect the structures inside the fluid. Observed POD modes are ordered in terms of relative energy. Investigation is performed in horizontal plane for wide range of Reynolds number.
