In the first part, energy supply and power production in the Czech republic is reviewed: The primary energy sources, natural reserves, gas and oil import, renewable power sources, electric power production. Political challenges with respect to the social and environmental aspects are discussed. In the following part, research and development in the energy sector in the Czech republic is presented, in particular in physics. První část příspěvku tvoří ucelený přehled výroby a dodávky energií v České republice: primární zdroje, přírodní zásoby, dovoz plynu a ropy, obnovitelné zdroje energií, výroba elektrické energie. Na základě sociálních a environmentálních aspektů jsou diskutovány politické výzvy. V další části je prezentován vývoj a výzkum v České republice v sektoru energií, zvláště pak ve fyzikálních oborech.
