Téma kuřáctví ve 20. století nebylo do dnešní doby příliš zpracováno, obzvláště pak v českém prostředí. Vůbec pak neexistují práce, které by braly v potaz různé vlivy - armádní prostředí, propagandu, reklamu a další. Tato diplomová práce si proto dává za cíl alespoň částečně zpracovat tento ignorovaný fenomén v daném časovém úseku. Věnuje se především jeho vývoji ve vztahu ke státu a společnosti, se speciálním zřetelem k válečným konfliktům a vojákům obecně. Zkoumání archivních pramenů, lékařských statistik, legislativy či předpisů kombinuje se svědectvím pramenů osobní povahy, fotografiemi a dochovanými obrazovými materiály. Vše je také doplněno poznatky z oblastí medicíny, sociologie či psychologie. Publications that would take into account any influences like army environment, propaganda, advertisement and other, are basically non-existent. This thesis is aimed to cover at least a part of this neglected phenomenon in a given period of time. It pursues mostly the relationship between smoking and the state or society, with special attention to conflicts and soldiers in general. The research of archive sources, medical statistics, legislation or regulations is combined with the testimony of sources of a personal nature, photographs and preserved visual materials.
