Příspěvek rozebírá strategický význam daného regionu z pohledu vojenských akcí v průběhu staletí. Podrobněji jsou popsána především tažení v 18. století, výčet však pokračuje až do 20. století. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována souvislosti rozvoje a změn komunikační sítě. The abstract discusses strategic signification of the region from the view of military actions during several centuries. More in detail are decribed campaignes in 18th century, specification continues to 20th century. Special attention is concentrated to connection with progress and changes of communication lines.
