Bakalářská práce se bude zabývat výskytem deminutiv v anglických překladech vybraných pohádek Karla Čapka. Předmětem zkoumání bude výskyt a funkce deminutiv ve vybraných autorských pohádkách a jejich anglických překladech. Práce bude rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části autorka vymezí a definuje pojem zdrobnělina, vysvětlí funkční využití deminutiv v češtině, jejich tvoření pomocí deminutivních sufixů a zmíní základní teorii překladu. Dále porovná a vysvětlí jazykové procesy slovotvoření deminutiv v anglickém jazyce. Hlavním cílem praktické části práce bude komparativní analýza užití zdrobnělin, jejich četnosti, důvody výskytu a překladové ekvivalenty ve vybraných autorských pohádkách a jejich anglických překladech. The topic of this bachelor thesis is the occurrence of diminutives in English translations of selected fairy tales by Karel Čapek. The subject of examination is the occurrence and function of diminutives in selected authorial fairy tales and their English translations. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, the author defines the term diminutive, explains the functional usage of diminutives in Czech as well as their formation by diminutive suffixes, and summarizes the basics of translation theory. The author also compares and explains the language processes of word formation of diminutives in English. The main purpose of the practical part is a comparative analysis of the use of diminutives, their frequency, reasons for their occurrence and their translation equivalents in authorial fairy tales and their English translations.
