Abstract: Lyme borreliosis is at the moment the most common vector borne disease. However, to this day there is still no human vaccine that would prevent infection. There has been effort to develop effective vaccine, but it failed inevitably. Fortunately, new vaccine is being developed at the moment and its release is expected soon. The aim of this thesis is to answer the main question which is asked in the thesis by explainig various reasons that complicate vaccine development.
