Práce je rozdělená na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část se zabývá vymezením pojmů jako jsou pohlaví, gender, genderová identita a genderová role, transgender. Samostatná kapitola poté přibližuje transsexualitu jako nejzávažnější a život jedince nejvíce ovlivňující formu transgenderu. Kapitola se zaměřuje na teorie transsexuality, krátce přibližuje historii, podrobně rozebírá jednotlivé etapy přeměny pohlaví, a nakonec zařazuje transsexualitu do sociálního kontextu. Empirická část je poté zaměřena na zmapování života a prožívání transsexuálních jedinců v průběhu tranzice. Pro výzkum byly vybrány tři respondentky, se kterými byly vedeny hloubkové narativní rozhovory, jako výzkumná metoda byla poté zvolena metoda IPA. Ze zjištění vychází, že transsexuálové často prožívají krizi identity, která je vnímána i jejich okolím, proto jsou ve velké míře svými blízkými podporováni. S péčí odborníků a s mediálním obrazem transsexuality jsou povětšinou velmi nespokojení. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part deals with the definition of terms such as sex, gender, gender identity and gender role, transgender. A separate chapter then describes transsexuality as the most serious and the life of the individual most affecting form of the transgender. The chapter focuses on the theory of transsexuality, briefly introduces history, discusses the various stages of gender transformation, and finally puts transsexuality into a social context. The empirical part is then focused on mapping the life and experience of transsexual individuals during the transition. Three respondents were chosen for the research, and they were interviewed in depth narrative interviews. The IPA method was chosen as a research method. The findings suggest that transsexuals often experience an identity crisis that is perceived by their surroundings, so they are largely supported by their loved ones. They are mostly very dissatisfied with the care of experts and the media image of transsexuality.
