Ve farní knihovně při kostele sv. Jakuba v Brně se dochoval mimořádně hodnotný soubor 122 rukopisů z konce 13. až počátku 16. století. Jde nejen o největší a nejhodnotnější kolekci rukopisů, ale i 141 prvotisků, jaká se ve farních knihovnách v českých zemích dochovala. Od roku 1931 je knihovna deponována v Archivu města Brna, dosud však není zpřístupněna odpovídajícím soupisem. Vedle liturgických, homiletických, patristických kodexů, biblických komentářů a dalších textů je v knihovně i necelá desítka právních rukopisů, vesměs kanonickoprávních. Nalezneme zde opisy základní sbírky Dekretálů Řehoře IX. s větším počtem textů komentářů k Dekretu, Dekretálům, Liber Sextus a Klementinám. Časté jsou i pomůcky ke sbírkám kanonického práva. Několik rukopisů obsahuje též texty určené pro foro interno a pro poučení duchovních správců či zpovědníků. Jedná se především o různé Summy confessorum, Poetinentiale či Confessionale od známých autorit, ale i o dosud neznámé sbírky a anonymní texty. Valuable collection of 122 medieval manuscripts has been preserved in the parish library at the St. James's Church in Brno, dating from the end of 13th century to the beginning of the 16th century, together with 141 incunabula. Apart from liturgical, homiletic, patristic codices, biblical commentaries and other theological and philosophical texts, there are also a few juridical manuscripts, mainly canonical-legal. Since 1931, the library has been deposited in the Archives of the City of Brno; however, it has not yet been made accessible by a proper and modern register. In the past, a large number of liturgical manuscripts were used by historians and musicologists, especially during several exhibitions of gothic art and Moravian book painting.
