We describe basic properties of commercial quartz tuning forks – frequency standards for digital watches which can be used as a very sensitive pressuremeters, thermometers and furthermore they can generate and detect boundary layer flow of cryogenic fluids. Křemenný krystal ve tvaru ladičky, jež se obvykle používá jako frekvenční standard do digitálních hodinek, lze použít jako teploměr, tlakoměr a také jako velmi citlivý generátor a detektor proudění mezní vrstvy v kryogenních tekutinách.
