V průběhu roku 1921 se pokusil po rozpadu Rakouska-Uherska sesazený král Karel Habsburský o návrat na maďarský trůn. Jeho pokusy byly v obou případech neúspěšné. Tyto restaurační pokusy měly za následek vypuknutí krize v nově vzniklém mezinárodním systému poválečné Evropy. Odpověď jednotlivých států, zejména reakce Malé dohody v čele s Edvardem Benešem, přispěla k vyhrocení události až na pokraj válečného konfliktu. Práce si klade za cíl vyjasnit faktory, které vedly císaře Karla k rozhodnutí návratu na trůn. Práce se dále zabývá československou reakcí na maďarské události, její intenzitou a argumentací za pomocí analýzy československých diplomatických zpráv a dobového tisku. Práce objasňuje, že ke Karlovu rozhodnutí k návratu na trůn přispělo hned několik faktorů. Mezi nimi byla například císařova morálka a víra v humanismus, nebo přílišná důvěra krále Karla ve své poddané. Dále pak císařovo přesvědčení o podpoře celé akce jak v Maďarsku, tak v zahraničí. Druhá výzkumná otázka odkrývá způsoby, jakými reagoval na maďarské události československý tisk a československá politická reprezentace. Z diplomatických zpráv je jasně patrný odmítavý postoj Československa ke Karlově akci. Diplomatické zprávy navíc obsahují citově zbarvená slova, které se vyskytují i v československém tisku, jenž předkládá... During 1921, after the break-up of Austria-Hungary, Charles Habsburg attempted twice to return to the Hungarian throne. His attempts were unsuccessful in both cases. These restaurant attempts have resulted in the outbreak of the crisis in the newly established international post-war European system. The response of the individual states, in particular the reaction of the Little Entente headed by Edvard Benes, contributed to the escalation of the event to the brink of the war. The thesis aims to clarify the factors that led Emperor Charles to return to the throne. The thesis also deals with the Czechoslovak response to Hungarian events, its intensity, arguments and speeches with the help of analysis of Czechoslovak diplomatic reports and periodicals. The work clarifies that several factors contributed to decision of Charles to return to the throne. These include, for example, the Emperor's morale and belief in humanism, arising from the times of the education of a young Emperor, or, for example, the overwhelming trust in his subjugation. Furthermore, the Emperor's conviction about the support of the whole event both in Hungary and abroad.
