This thesis discusses the determination of primary and secondary brain tumours. The aim is to find significant differences between these two pathological tissues, using image characterization in manually segmented tumour and edema areas in T1 and FLAIR magnetic resonance images. The selected areas of gliomas and brain metastases were described via measuring the shape and intensity descriptors. The obtained data were processed and analysed; after this stage, statistical tests of mutual distinctions were performed. The proposed tests prove the existence of 11 parameters, which exhibit different values for the primary tumour and the brain metastase groups.
