Abstract: Ecological biogeography of three genera of South American cichlids (Krobia, Aequidens and Cichlasoma) was studied in the context of the taxon cycle hypothesis. The genera have expirienced expansin and contraction phases that have ecological characteristics of the taxon cycle hypothesis.
