Sbírka kramářských tisků patří k nejstarším sbírkám v majetku Etnologického ústavu AV ČR, v.v.i. a její počátky jsou spojeny s projektem Univerzální edice na vydávání lidových písní národů Rakousko-Uherska. V letech 2001-2006 díky Programu podpory cíleného výzkumu a vývoje AV ČR mohl byl ve Středisku vědeckých informací EÚ AV ČR realizován projekt, na jehož základě mohla být tato sbírka odborně zpracována. Došlo ke kompletní konzervaci a katalogizaci sbírky pro níž byl vyvinut speciální program, který odpovídá základním standartům pro katalogizaci starých a kramářských tisků. Konečným výstupem tohoto projektu jsou dva katalogy – klasický tištěný a elektronický The collection of chapbooks belongs to the oldest collections in possession of the Institute of Ethnology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Its beginnings were closely connected with the project of Universal edition of representative publication of folk songs of the nations from the territory of Austro-Hungarian empire. Thanks to the programme The Support of Targeted Research Projects of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, in the years 2001-2006 a project was realized that aimed to scientific processing of the collection. Complete conservation and cataloguing of the collection took place. A special programme was developed, that confirms to the basic standards for cataloguing of old prints and chapbooks.
