Text popisuje průběh a výsledky experimentální výroby dřevěného uhlí, která se uskutečnila při příležitosti výstavy Šumava – tajemství, nostalgie, příběhy pořádané Národním zemědělským muzeem. Součástí příspěvku je dále nástin dějin uhlířství na Šumavě a v Pošumaví a podrobný přehled současných forem tradiční milířové výroby tohoto produktu ve střední a jihovýchodní Evropě. Vzorky získané při experimentu byly podrobeny chemickým analýzám, jejich výsledky jsou v textu prezentovány a srovnány s rozbory dřevěného uhlí odebraného na uhlířských pracovištích v Rumunsku In the paper course and outcomes of the experimental charcoal burning, which took place on the occasion of an exhibition The Bohemian Forest - Mystery, Nostalgia, Stories that was organized by National Museum of Agriculture, are thoroughly described. The description of the history of charcoal making in the Bohemian Forest as well as detailed overview of contemporary forms of traditional charcoal burning methods in the Central and Southeast Europe makes important part of the paper. Samples obtained during the experiment were analyzed and compared with those collected at the charcoal burning sites in Romania. The outcomes of this comparison are also presented
